On the ephemeris: this tool computes planetary positions from analytical orbital theory (Sun & Moon per Meeus/ELP-truncated series, Mercury–Saturn from JPL's published low-precision Keplerian elements fitted to the DE ephemerides, valid ~1800–2050) rather than loading a raw JPL DE44x binary kernel, which a browser cannot do. Accuracy is on the order of arc-seconds for the Sun and about an arc-minute for the Moon and planets — sufficient for rashi/nakshatra/dasha work. Placidus cusps use the standard iterative semi-arc method; house division becomes unreliable at very high latitudes (>66°), a known limitation of Placidus itself. Sunrise/sunset use the NOAA solar algorithm; moonrise/moonset are iteratively approximated. UTC offsets are resolved live from the IANA timezone database for the exact date entered (handles historical daylight-saving automatically). Divisional charts (vargas) and Ashtakvarga follow standard Parashari rules as commonly implemented in Vedic software — cross-check against a professional reference for high-stakes use.

On places & saved data: the place search covers a few hundred curated major cities and Indian pilgrimage/temple towns (see places.js) — it is not an exhaustive global gazetteer of every city and village. If your place isn't listed, just type its name and enter latitude, longitude and timezone manually. This tool is a static page with no backend server, so "saving" writes to a DATA.json file on your own device rather than a real server-side database — use "Open Saved Chart" to re-load it any time.
